Why explosion protection is not an accessory

A standard vacuum is an ignition source in disguise

Motor sparks, static charge in the hose, hot surfaces: a standard industrial vacuum brings several ignition sources into an area where combustible dust is airborne. That is exactly what ATEX zones 21 and 22 are about, and exactly why we engineer dedicated machines instead of retrofitting catalogue models.

Frequently asked questions

Which ATEX zones do DEBUS vacuums cover?

Our ATEX series is designed for dust explosion zones 21 and 22. The right configuration depends on your zone classification and the medium. We verify it against your explosion protection document.

Compressed air or electric in hazardous areas?

Compressed-air vacuums have no electric motor and therefore no electrical ignition source, which makes them the most robust choice for zone 21. Electric ATEX vacuums are more economical in continuous operation. We build both lines and advise based on your duty cycle.

What about dust classes M and H?

Dust class (L/M/H) covers filtration performance, the ATEX zone covers explosion risk. They are separate requirements: a vacuum for carcinogenic, combustible dust needs dust class H AND the matching explosion-proof design.

Do you deliver the Ex documentation?

Yes. Every ATEX machine ships with its declaration of conformity and operating documentation for hazardous areas, and we can support integrating it into your explosion protection document.
